He did not favor a strong federal government, because he believed that would led to tyranny. He also believed in the natural rights of man.

∙ 11y agoThomas Jefferson wanted the future of America to be equal for all the people and his belief in a modest role for the central government is reflected in the changes he made during his presidency. Jefferson behaved more like a gentleman Farmer than a privileged politician.

∙ 9y agoThomas Jefferson was a farmer who did not particularly favor a large federal government, as the United States had just fought a war to throw off a large government. His vision for the future of the United States was that of an agrarian republic in which states and localities held most of the power, and the federal government remained small, with limited powers.

∙ 12y agoJefferson's view of the United States ought to be a state that could be changed and he thought that he could make the difference by becoming a president of the country. Also, Jefferson thought that becoming a president wasn't going to be easy but with some help he could make it and also Jefferson had the help of George Washington it was a lot because George Washington helped him a lot and gave him lots of ideas to make him a better president.
