Is believed to have ruled ruled from c. 1332 BC to 1323 BC (when he died)
King Tutankhmun was a boy king, son of Neffertiti. When his father died, King Tut was denied a right to rule, as he was still a boy. instead his mother ruled as regent until he was 10 years old. His reign lasted 7 (some say 8 or 9) years. What we do know is he was most likely murdered (possibly by the chief Priest or his general). After he was entombed in the Valley of the Kings, west of Thebes (the ancient Egyptian capital) his general, followed by his top priest ruled as Pharaoh for a short period (hence the beliefs on them being the killers). The main reason the boy king was so famous, though, was the condition of his splendid tomb. When it was unearthed, the age of egyptology reached its golden peak.
