Answer 1
William Shakespeare's inspirations were Geoffery Chaucer and Plutarch.
Shakespeare used many of Chaucer's poems in his plays. For example, Parliment of Fowles by Chaucer was the source for Mercutio's Queen Mab speech in Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare was also inspired by Plutarch, an Ancient Greek writer and philosopher who wrote a book called Parallel Lives. The information about people written in these books were adapted by Shakespeare for characters in his own writings.
He also gained some minor inspiration from kings, queens and emperors of his current times and his past, such as Queen Elizabeth I, Julius Caesar, Cleopatra and so on.
Aside from that, Shakespeare was also a naturally intuitive and highly educated person, which was pretty rare from his time.
Answer 2 (previous/merged)
Some people think that he might have hooked up with some actors and have liked the theatre business which gave him the idea of writing plays. Probably writing poetry was a pretty common way of chatting up girls (at least we get that impression from Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing who feels obliged to express his new-found love for Beatrice in verse, even though he's not much good at it) so everybody tried it at least a couple of times. But this is all guesswork--the fact is, we have no idea what inspired Shakespeare to do anything. He simply did not reveal his personal thoughts anywhere.
We don't know very much about what was going on in Shakespeare's life when he started writing, but here are some good guesses. Shakespeare probably got involved in the theatrical world before he started writing, and realized that if you had a knack for it, you could make some money by being a writer of plays, for which there was a huge demand. He may well have started writing sonnets before this time so that either he or someone who read them would realize that he did indeed have a knack for writing. Penury and propinquity may have combined to persuade him to make a few shillings by writing for the theatrical group he was acting with, or the others he knew of.
Shakespeare was not an author. He was a playwright.
We do not have enough information to answer this question.
he joined the theatre
Nobody knows this.
There are many debates over William Shakespeare. There are people who theorize that William Shakespeare, was not actually William Shakespeare. These people believe that William Shakespeare was a noble of high birth, who was using the name William Shakespeare to publish writing. There's also the belief that William Shakespeare was actually several different people writing under the name of William Shakespeare. Ultimately, there's no hard evidence to suggest that William Shakespeare was anyone other than William Shakespeare. So the answer is "YES, William Shakespeare was a real writer."

We have no documentation of Shakespeare's personal life, so it is impossible to tell 1) when he became a writer, and 2) if he changed at all whenever that happened.

Money. Many people forget that Shakespeare wrote his long poems in order to make some spare cash, and that he wrote his plays because it was his job in the theatrical company he worked in. The sonnets were more for personal pleasure and for his friends (so said Francis Meres in 1597)
There is no definitive event in Shakespeare's life that caused him to become a writer. He likely developed an interest in writing through his education, exposure to plays in Stratford-upon-Avon, and working in the London theater scene. His talent and skill as a writer helped him rise to prominence in the literary world.
