the same way that 'late' (modern day) people do. eat, sleep, drink and communicate. homosapians such as cave men do exactly the same things as we do today. they just did it in a different way. for example, we have jobs to get paid, which allows us to eat and keep up to date as far as technology is concerned. however cave men, used weapons and tools to hunt which allowed them to eat.
people in the olden times were hunter - gatherers and lived in the jungles. they survived on fish, animal meat, plants, leaves, roots and wild fruits and berries. it was a very difficult livelihood for them.
They did all the possible means just to survive and to make history for the people today to understand how it was in the olden days.
Early humans lived in a very primitive manner with very simple shelters, no weapons, tools, or fire. They lived off the land much like animals.
