I believe 80s music is important because it revolutionized into modern music. Without 80s music, the music we have today would not have evolved. For some of todays music, maybe that's a bad thing!

Big band swing was the thing in the 40s.In the late 40s along came musicians like Winone Harris who scaled the big band down to the 'combo' of 5 or 6 guys and added the blues element and lo and behold Rock'n'Roll was invented. Aside from that there was also the singers that fronted the big bands, notably Frank Sinatra who gave a sexual charge to the way that white guys sang,Black male vocalists always had a stong sexual content to the way they sang the blues from way back in the early years of blues and jazz in the 20s but the white singers played catch up in the 40s to develop the 'soul' thing that is everywhere today.

What was music like in the 50s?

Music in the 50s allowed people to be themselves - unique and was about nothing but plain old fun! It allowed people to let loose and enjoy themselves instead of being so uptight all the time.

Yes Latin America's music has an influence on the American (United States)'s music. How could it not?
