Due to deep-rooted Confucius influence, individuals among Chinese are often seen as part of a social organization, rather than an individual per se. A sense of collectivism -- in contrast to individualism -- is expected from everyone. This explains why certain behaviors -- such as the emphasis of guanxi (connections), mianzi (face) and ranks and titles -- are so prevalent among Chinese.

Confucianism taught that everyone is born into his or her "place" in society and should accept that place- this affects China cause they are a communist government everyone must be equal

Cultures still preserve the orientation toward a hierarchical organization.

In the Five Relations of Confucius, a husband is superior to his wife, who owes obedience to the man. Parents are superior to children, who owe parents respect, obedience, and reverence.

Governments adopted it readily and the large acceptance led to a Chinese culture with tight -knit society with people that had responsabilities and duties from birth to death

Influenced by Confucianism, in Chinese culture, an intellectual is not limited in study alone. He should be successful in being a human and in his bearing of himself. A key objective of an intellectual should be to make full use of his ability, personality and intelligence to do good for the state, society and the world at large.
