Aside from murder and mayhem, the Ku Klux Klan didn't contribute to the Civil Rights Movement, in fact, they attempted to stop it. However, one could say the imagery of murderous terrorists hiding behind sheets caused the world, and the rest of the country to view the south in a terrible light, and as a result, caused more sympathy and support for the movement.

Urged African Americans to protest racial violence. W. E. B. Du Bois, a founding member of the NAACP, led a parade of 10,000 African-American men in New York to protest such violence. Du Bois also used the NAACP's magazine, The Crisis, as a platform for leading a struggle for Civil Rights.

To date, the KKK has contributed nothing to any racial society, including their own. Protecting the rights of a very small minority (regardless of their rhetoric they do not represent the ideals of the majority of white Americans) at the expense of everyone else's rights is the antithesis of the foundation of the US. If you throw out the Bill of Rights, what do you have? Not the United States of America.

The KKK is dedicated to white supremacy; they believe that people of European descent are superior to all other types of people and deserve more privileges, power, and wealth. This is a form of collective selfishness.

What is the message in Mississippi burning?

The message was to show the cruelty that the AA went through despite the civil rights movement. Although the civil rights movement fought against segregation and for AA rights, it only did so legislatively, but that did not mean that it had an immediate effect in society, simply because the laws had changed. This became apparent in the many "political meetings" that they had involving the KKK, which was greatly supported in the south, in Mississippi.
