In the Neolithic period it brought about a change in lifestyle of Hunter/Gatherer, to Agriculture and settlement. This enabled people to domesticate animals/plants in various forms during the next millennia, and produce food on a much larger scale, making it possible to support a much larger population of people, leading to urbanization of individuals into villages prompting a more sedentary lifestyle.
The development of agriculture enabled humans to settle in one place and establish permanent settlements, leading to the rise of complex societies. It facilitated the production of surplus food, allowing for population growth, division of labor, and specialization. It also led to the development of technology, trade, and advancements in social organization, leading to the formation of civilizations.
It reduced them to reservation lands where they had no choice but to stay. They had to learn to adapt to the "white man's way," becoming ranchers and farmers themselves in order to bring money into the reservations and feed themselves, though they have to rely on food produced from farms/ranches off their reservations.
People migrated in the past when the climate changed enough to interrupt their food supply and to escape war or to find a new territory to be safe in terms of their ethnicity or religion. In the US, migration from east to west was called manifest destiny, where people believed that land was available to them for their own farms and prosperity. I believe that climate change will bring us more refugees as agriculture and living in places where the temperature or sea levels have risen so they have constant flooding.
There are two reasons to forbid the matrilineal parallel cousin marriage. First, biological inconveniences may occur because of too close blood. Typical example is prognathism of Habsburg. Second, it does not bring any benefit because the groom does not inherit properties such as land, house, or money according to the system.
The examples of early civilizations that contributed to its "laws" are the perhaps best known by placing the unwritten laws into words so that the people of the early civilizations could be treated more fairly, not withstanding the fact that some of the written laws were not fair to everyone. The two early civilizations that come to mind are the laws of Hammurabi in the first Babylonian Empire. Secondly, as far as ancient civilizations are concerned, perhaps the Twelve Tables of the Roman Republic bring us closer to what may considered "modern laws". Some European nations, as an example have parts of Roman law as the foundation of many of their current day laws.
