The Intolerable Acts helped unite the colonists. It helped unite them because the colonists supported Boston. The committees of correspondence spread the news of the Intolerable Acts. People from other colonies responded quickly to help the people of Boston, who faced hunger while the port was closed. This was partially because of the Boston Tea Party.

The Intolerable acts effected the colonists because A: Once Britain shut down the port of Boston preventing colonists from shipping/getting supplies. B: Only one town meeting was allowed once a year because King George suspected that the colonists were planning other protests etc. C: British officials who committed crimes were to be tried in England, not in the colonies, which would mean criminals would serve very little amount of time/punishment and would usually not be taken to justice. D: A new Quartering Act. British Commanders could force colonists to house troops in their homes.

The Intolerable Acts were put upon the 13 colonies resulting from the Boston Tea party, when the colonist were fed up with all the taxes that were being placed upon them. Once the Intolerable Acts were enacted, the Colonist felt as if their rights were being violated. Hence, they created the First Continental Congress which then created the Continental Association. In this Association, the colonists agreed to boycott British goods and go against the British rule. The colonist felt that they should not be taxed due to "taxation without representation," which meant that they should not be taxed if they were not represented in Parliament. All of these actions led to the Revolutionary War, other wise known as the War for Independence. After this War, Britain then recognized the 13 colonies as the United States and separate, but they would not follow this belief until after the war of 1812. Overall, the Intolerable Acts gave the 13 colonies the power and motivation to work together and rebel against Parliament, and eventually helped towards gaining independence.
