Biblically, it is not mentioned. It is likely that he died in Egypt shortly after his writings concluded.

There are traditions around that he was stoned by Jews at Tahpanhes, and another that he went to Babylon and died naturally. Neither of these exist in Biblical writings though.

that is right but he is buried in dublin Ireland for example is this why is the stone of bethel there in the british isles

some people forget some other prophecies as well that he Yhwh was to cause the flip flops of govt in the british isles why lets put it exactly the coronation stone of the british isles is the same stone that david was crowned on in Israel at that time it dissappeared from Israel about the time of the falling away forget this garbage that is revisionist history

written by jesuits under the catholic church they wish to keep truths hidden

and the name jerrimiah was given when he came into the land of the emerald isles

with a daughter of the king of Israel who lost his eyes after he saw his sons being put to death !

and that name was olam faldah which some say was not jerrimiah but i assure you this it was he with Simon baruck the scribe was with him

A:We do not really know the prophet who wrote the Book of Malachi, but there was no person called Malachi. The word 'Malachi', used in the title of the book, actually means 'messenger' and is based on its use in the text. The author was anonymous, so we know nothing about him and can neither say when he was born nor when or how he died. Religious viewpoint:Malachi was a real person; his burial-place is on the Mount of Olives. He died around 340 BCE, close to the time of death of Haggai and Zechariah. We may presume that Malachi died peacefully, since tradition teaches that all of the Jewish prophets died peacefully except for a couple who were killed (Zechariah ben Yehoyada and Uriah ben Shemaya; and according to a Talmudic tradition, Isaiah also).

1 he was stoned to death in the temple of God.

2 The answer in 1 above could be true but no clear evidence is apparent from The Bible that this was in fact how the prophet Zechariah died. When people mention "the prophet Zechariah" they generally refer to the Zechariah of Zechariah 1:1

1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah, the son of Iddo" New International Version. 1984 (Zec 1:1)

Some translations call him the "son of Berekiah" and others the "son of Barachias" or the "son of Berechiah" Irespective of which spelling the translators preferred the no evidence can be found in the Old Testament of the Bible of how "prophet Zechariah" died We read about another Zechariah in 2 Chronicles 24:20-22.

20 Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, "This is what God says: 'Why do you disobey the Lord's commands? You will not prosper. Because you have forsaken the Lord, he has forsaken you.' "

21 But they plotted against him, and by order of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the Lord's temple. 22 King Joash did not remember the kindness Zechariah's father Jehoiada had shown him but killed his son, who said as he lay dying, "May the Lord see this and call you to account." The Holy Bible: New International Version. 1984 (2 Ch 24:20--22).

Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. 35 And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. New International Version. 1984 (Matt 23:34--35).

Although no clear evidence could be found in the Old Testament of the way in which the Zechariah of Zech 1:1 died the possibility exists that the Zechariah of Chronicles 24:20 and Zech 1:1 could be the same person.

The writer Eric Lyons, M.Min gives a plausible explanation.

I accept that Jesus knew how and where Zechariah son of Berekiah died

A few more explanations given by other sources

· The Zechariah referenced is the father of John the Baptist.

This suggestion was made by Origen. It would make some sense; Zecharaiah was a priest, and having a son like John the Baptist surely didn't win him any popularity contests.

It would also be in line with a theory by Betz [HS.UDS, 209] that John was raised by the Essenes, who according to Josephus did take in young children for education; and if John's father had been killed, and his mother was aged, then it might have been a natural thing to happen.

However, if this is who Jesus is referring to, we have no other direct evidence that Zechariah, John's father, was killed in this manner.

· It is the Zechariah in 2 Chronicles, and Jehoiada is his grandfather; Berekiah, his unnamed father.

The Bible does skip generations in genealogical lists at times; it was customary for the Hebrews (and other cultures) to do this in their genealogies.

· Berekiah is another name for Jehoiada.

Several Biblical personalities had dual names - Simon was also called Peter, for example, and Saul switched his name to Paul.

· Transmission error.

This may have happened, inasmuch as Jerome noted that a Hebrew version of Matthew in his day read differently: "In the Gospel the Nazareans use, we find 'son of Johoiada' instead of 'son of Barachia.'" It could have been an error created by the transition from Matthew's Hebrew/Aramaic original to Greek.

· The Zechariah in question is simply unknown.
