It helps them locate fractured bones or what happened to the bodies that we cannot see externally. The reason doctors step outside whenever they do an xray on you is because its really unhealthy for them to have repeated exposures to the radiation. Patients typically do not have a lot of exposure and so with proper screening it is safe.
