Simply as a man because Buddha lived 500 years before Jesus. Jesus is not part of the Buddhist tradition especially since Buddhism preceded Christianity by several centuries. The concept of any deity is not part of the Buddhist tradition.

There are some who contend that similarities between the Christian Jesus' teachings and Buddha's from 500 years prior to the Jesus ministry indicates some knowledge of Buddhist teachings in the Middle East. On the whole topic of divine beings, Buddha said "(one must) Work out your own salvation with diligence." Buddha further suggests that "Those who rely upon themselves only, not looking to assistance by anyone besides themselves, it is they who reach the topmost height." Further there are no supernatural powers which offer a shortcut to answers. Buddha stated that this only diverts effort and the need for the hard practical task of self-advances. "By this yea shall know that a man is not my disciple - that he tries to work a miracle".

As movement that started some 500 years before the start of Christianity and several thousand kilometres away and in a differed faith group (Dravidian vs Abrahamic) the concept of Jesus probably doesn't come up any more than Christians talking about the meaning and attributes of Vishnu.Buddhism has no "god", Buddha is not divine or worshipped. There is no concept of salvation so the whole "purpose" of Jesus is pretty much missing.

Literate Buddhists might have heard of Jesus and other Christian beliefs but it is not important.

Jesus is not part of the religion of Buddhism, therefore Buddhists have no particular beliefs about Jesus.

Many Buddhists have of course heard of Jesus, as many Christians have heard of Thor and Zeus. Neither group spends a lot of time worrying about what other foks believe in.
