Actually businesses have more in common than differences. The idea that businesses are concerned with making a profit at whatever cost does not bear review. It's a false notion. The government, on the other hand, has the task of protecting society and consumers. Consumers are protected by industry as well. If a company is making money it can pay them well in order to attract the best workers. The government will benefit by receiving tax revenues, and therefore meet social standards. With that said it's clear that healthy companies make for more government revenue. Each body assists each other.
Groups in society began to examine what forms government should take, rather than accept the traditional forms that existed. The government alone had the power to pass laws and raise taxes
A.Filmer suggested that governments represent the will of the majority, whereas Enlightenment thinkers advocated for minority rights.B.Filmer argued for a strong monarchy, whereas Enlightenment philosophers claimed that government was not necessary because natural law would allow society to advance.C.Enlightenment philosophers advocated government systems that protected the natural rights of man, whereas Filmer argued that people would be lost without the paternal monarch.D.Enlightenment philosophers advocated monarchical governments in which a central king would ensure the rights of the people, whereas Filmer argued for representative democracy.
There are several ethical systems in the Chrysalids. The people in Waknuk and the surrounding communities have an ethical system that seems to be based on post-apocalyptic survival, which for the most part works as a survival strategy, but doesn't work really well to help them develop morally or spiritually. They confuse that kind of survival with religion... and maybe they had to believe in it that much to survive, but now the extremism that led to their survival seems overbearing and way too harsh... at least to the soft society reading the novel. :) The telepaths have a loyalty based on the intimacy of knowing each other's minds. They are incapable of betraying each other without severe mental (and spiritual?) consequences, and so they will not, even for survival. Uncle Axel saves them from this decision. The fringe people, formerly of waknuk, have a more broken system. They are about survival as well, but don't have the means without raiding or harming others, and so they do. The Zealanders who have a large telepath population don't seem to have any ethics at all other than survival of the fittest... and they of course feel that telepaths are that. They have no compunction about murdering the non-telepaths. Theoretically at least, this is the ethical system that David and his friends will learn to embrace.
Most organised religions have required ethical behaviours. If you have not seen it there is an excellent example of this in a poster on the "Golden Rule". (see the link below) I found myself looking at this poster while in a local hospital and marveling in the fact someone had taken the time to compile examples of the similarities in 13 major faith systems. So many people these days spend their time and energies looking for the differences. But I digress... Some but not all of the major organised religions and not a few of the lesser known ones preach that the "rules" or ethics are more importantly applied to those of their own faith. This is not so for many others. Unfortunately too many people these days take it upon themselves to exclude all others from their ethical practices. As the trend moves to separate church and state, less and less of the old ethics remain. We must rely now on the moral fiber of those making our laws and heading our businesses.
Robert Rosen absolutely revolutionized this field but he was largely ignored. His daughter is now reviving interest in his work. Springer has just re-released an improved, proofread version of Anticipatory Systems. Biochemistry has labored unsuccessfully under the yoke of Reductionism. But Rosen has shown definitively why that must fail. See his two books that are particularly relevant :Life Itself: A Comprehensive Inquiry into the Nature, Origin, and Fabrication of Life (Complexity in Ecological Systems) by Robert H. Rosen (Jul 6, 2005)ANDFundamentals of Measurement and Representation of Natural Systems (General Systems Research Series, Vol 1)

Professionalism, fairness, and honesty are measures that businesses need to overcome ethical problems. The widespread use of information systems does not change ethics in business, ethics are within the individuals operating a business, not the business. Like any system, the information system will have as much integrity as the vast number of people who use it. Like any business tools that have been used over the centuries, those using those tools must be aware of the pitfalls as well as the function. A stone cutter in ancient Egypt could as easily have used his stone cutting tool to stab someone in the back as easily as he used it to cut great blocks out of the stone.
