well the simple thing is that they lick there furand then when they bring to much fur well licking the spew out furballs...... (=P gross......) ADAM SUCKS HIS BALLS
By licking, or "bathing" themselves, they pick up loose fur, then retch.

it depends on the hair length- the more often the better -for long haired everyday is best, others every few days if the cat is shedding alot of hair visibly in the home or coughing up furballs he needs to be groomed :)
