centaurs are awesomer in HP
but they are more horse-like and less civil in most myths
plus myth centaurs didn't save HP from Moldywart
Ixion, king of the lapiths, mated with Nephele. She was a cloud image of Hera. Anyway, the issue were the first centaurs. There is no chronology in the Greek myths, so there are no answers to when-questions.
They didnt Rick came up with his own ideas and sold the books because of that not because they where such a rip off a harry potter they are hardly alike.
The Kane Chronicles, for sure. ( These below are only LIKE Percy Jackson, I'm not sure if you will like them all, ok?) Harry Potter Twilight And any book on Demigods and Greek myths!
If you are talking about mythology, then the woman/Goddess with an owl was Athena in Greek mythology. JK Rowling has in her Harry Potter series used a lot of Greek mythology in the stories. Examples are: 1. Fluffy who guards the entrance to the Philosopher's Stone (Cerberus guards the entrance to Hades and also has 3 heads). In the book, Hagrid got Fluffly from a Greek chappie in the pub, a direct link to showing it comes from Greek myths. Shame they changed it in the film to being acquired from an Irish chappie. 2. The centaurs in the forest. In mythology, centaurs were wise and studied the heavens to divine the future, just as in the series. 3.The Sphynx and its riddle in the maze. In the book, the Sphynx gives a riddle to Harry in order for him to pass, although he could just not answer and try and find another way past and not be harmed, he chose to answer, knowing that an incorrect answer would mean that the Sphynx would attack him. In mythology, Oedipus also had to answer a Sphynx's riddle which has become probably the most famous riddle since, what goes on 4 legs in the morning, 2 legs at midday and 3 legs in the evening? These three examples are just some of the beasts and creatures from greek mythology. Have fun finding more and trying to work out their meanings and parallels with Harry Potter. PS, wonder why the last task is set in a maze?? Think Theseus and the Minotaur and you get the picture.
A good idea would be to compare Rick Riordan's series to the actually Myths!

No although JK Rowling cunningly mixed alot of other myths and legends together such as goblins, dragons and more complex things like an extremely powerful sword (maybe based on Excalibur) and something that makes you invisible if you wear it (maybe based on the ring on lord of the rings).

The woman you are likely to be refering to is the Greek Goddess of wisdom, Athena. She was renowned for having an owl to tell her of happenings both on earth and in Olympus. Since she was the goddess of wisdom, the idea stuck that an owl was also wise and so to in the telling of some of her myths where her owl also has mention.
They are similar, but each reflects the values of the culture in which they were composed.Yes.The culture in which Homer's Odyssey was composed did not value chivalry in the way that the culture in which the Percival myths were created did.
Well, clearly the Harry Potter series is WAY better. Why? Well, first of all how many people have heard of Harry Potter? EVERYONE. I mean really, have you ever heard of someone who hasn't? And who has heard of Warriors? Another thing is J.K Rowling is like the richest author, but really you can look it up in the world record book. Another thing is Harry Potter has everything. Like EVERYTHING. Adventure, action, mystery, comedy, romance, scary parts, pets, magic, mythical creatures, myths, legends, animals, and best of all over 200 characters! They have like 100 quizzes on Sporcle. (Sporcle is a website where you can play millions of typing quizzes including Harry Potter top 200) Also, on Warner Brothers.com you can find Harry Potter anything. They have T-shirts, legos, Mugs, model wands, key chains, shoes, cell phone cases, scarves, bobble heads, watches, uniforms, and even replicas of Howgarts! There are many other things but it would take to long to explain! Another reason is that the books are longer and really expensive. Plus J.K Rowling has won so many awards for the Harry Potter books. The last reason is that they don't even have Warriors movies. And all the Harry Potter movies got really good ratings. They also have Harry Potter Wii games and DS games! (Unlike) Warriors. Okay, I'm almost done. So I'm pretty sure I've stated that.... HARRY POTTER IS BETTER THAN WARRIORS.
Myths are myths, and historians pass on the myths.
