Lobsters care for their offspring only during the egg stage. The female carries the eggs on her pleopods where she keeps them clean and well oxygenated. Once they eggs hatch, she releases the larvae where they must survive on their own.

The male turns the female onto her back and deposits packets of sperm on her underside. She can store the sperm for several months till egg-laying season in July and August. She uses the sperm to externally fertilize her eggs as they are laid.

Lobsters give birth by pushing out lobster larvae and sending them into the ocean. There are about 700,000 of them born at one time but only about 1/3 of them survive being eaten by other sea creatures.

lobsters have babies almost exactly like humans. after the birth the 1000-90,000 babies attatch to the mothers underside and stay there for 9-13 months. Lobsters mate after molting when their shells are soft.

Now then, i am no crustacean specialist, but i do know that many relatives of crayfish pay no more attention to their young once they are born. This makes it rather unlikely that crayfish care for their young like mammals, birds and other animals do.

Lobsters do not breath out of the water, they don't need any oxygen but they breath by the gills on the sides.
