In my opinion a support group is one in which each member or participant, including the leader, is working toward a common goal, some relief or recovery if you will from a particular issue. Each of the members is free to contribute and each is encouraged to not only give input but to consider the methods or method of relief used by the others. Common effort is to achieve recovery.

Therapy groups are moved and directed through trained professionals to delve into the problematic issue and these can be varied. Usually there is a plan, follow through, and some follow up. Stroke Support Group. & Hemorrhage Support Online
