The manual for my watch did not say anything about how to adjust the band, but it's not hard if you have some simple tools. If you examine the links carefully, on the back you will see some arrows on some links. Those links are removable. Examine the edge of the band and you will see some very small holes and inside those holes you will see the ends of some tiny pins that hold the links together. To remove the pins, use a very small jewelers screwdriver, small enough to fit into the hole, and press in the direction of the arrow. In other words, the arrow shows the direction the pin will move when you press it out.

Some of the pins in my band were very tight, so I turned the band on it's side on a block of soft wood and gently tapped the end of my jewelers screwdriver to push them out.

Pay attention as you press the pin out so you will see that the two ends are different. You will want to remember this when you reassemble the band, to make sure you put the pins in correctly.

To reconnect the links, just put the pin back in and press it in place tightly.

I took some pictures, but I don't see any way to post them here.

Added:

At the edge of the band adjacent to the arrow you will see a dimple. The dimple, foot of the L, holds the L shaped pin in place. Place a screwdriver, I used #1 blade, below the dimple towards the center of the band, and under the bottom edge of the L. Work the screw driver tip down under the L foot bottom edge. Twist gently and force the L shaped pin out arrow direction. They come out with a little resistance. I took a link out then reassembled but did not seat the pin to check fit. I removed a second link to fit. Use needle nose pliars to seat. Don't force. Check to see correct link/pin dimple alignment. For which link to remove, I placed the watch normal position and removed links so the clasp moved to wrist center.

IMPORTANT ADDITION:

Women's Seiko watches with the slender metal bands have small screws, and require the use of a jewelers flat-head screwdriver. The size of the screwdriver tip needed will be either 1/16" or 3/32", nothing larger will fit. They DO NOT have the pin-type links. If you try to force the screws as you would a pin, you may damage the screws and/or band. Seiko uses the pins that can be pushed out on the broad men's watch bands.
