Here are more opinions and answers from others: * You have to take some dancing lessons with a professional and he or she can help you from there. It is common to dance in discotheques first. You can only become a backup dancer if you have two or more year?s experience. It also depends on the country that you live in. * I believe that to become a backup dancer, it takes hours of dedication and practice - putting in your all, both mentally and physically. I danced for years since I was 2 years old and I am now 22 and want to have the chance be in the light. Dancing is a wonderful feeling for me. * It is also important to be in the right region and dancing with the right company. L.A. and New York have great opportunities for dancers; however, New York is best for Broadway, while L.A. has more opportunities for video dancing. My best advice is to get to the right location and get into the right circles. It helps to associate yourself with people who are doing what you want to do. So do your homework and best of luck! * Any dance classes you can get in will help, but most video backup dancers are proficient in Hip-Hop. As a matter of fact, many people only study hip-hop, which I think is fine as long as you understand a little bit about your own anatomy and how your different muscle groups work. A choreographer will ask you to do things and you must make them look professional. * To find auditions, the major publication is "Backstage West". Becoming a Back-Up Dancerfirst u have to have dancing lessons and get good expereince. then if u would like u chould find an agent.if not u can look up online places that are having aditions.Then u would have to get head shots, pics of u dancing, and make a resume. Curently i am doing this right now because i would like to be in Music Videos and a back up dancer! :)

Being a professional dancerTo be a professional dancer requires three things: patience, hard work and passion. If you have none of these, you'd better have a cup of coffee and think again what you want to do in a near future.

Unfortunately unlike many other professions, dancing requires also a body that helps you out along the way. Rotation of the legs, strong arms and bones, and powerful feet and legs will all help you throughout choreographic works.

There is need of studying your own body. This, though as personal as it seems, requires appropriate guidance.

Ballet might be a good way to start focusing on your body.

It is sad that starting at a young age will later allow you to do things that otherwise you would not have been able to do.

In the States, there are lots of schools that provide with a very good system, specially if you are planning to become a contemporary dancer. Just Google: "Dancing schools in the states."

I really would liek to know how to become a backing dancer, this would be a dream for me. I have danced since i was 6 and i am now 18. I have won several awards in several types of dance and perform at least twice a year in a theatre. you need to have atleast four to five years of dance training classes then go to the academy of dance an finsh the year school then you have a degree for dance an the the school put you in a company of dance an the dance company will choose were you have to go
