What is the quickest way to become a contortionist?

Becoming a contortionist can be mastered by anyone. Contrary to popular belief, EVERYONE is born with the flexibility needed to be a contortionist, but as you get older and don't use that flexibility, your muscles and ligaments shorten and tighten. However, they can ALWAYS be loosened up again with lots of practice. If you have no flexibility, work on your splits. Try to hyper-extend the middle, left, and right splits. An easy way to stretch the splits is on the wall. Practice your bridges for a more flexible back, and focus on breathing. Some other important skills are breathing and strength. Breathing is so important when you are trying to move your body into strange positions because it keeps the oxygen circulating through your muscles so you get a better stretch. Strength is needed because in some positions you will need to be holding your own body weight, and you can easily injure yourself if you have no muscle. This sounds mean but it is true- it is easier to contort your body when you have less fat on your body, because there is more room for your body to bend. Hi! I am 10 years old and I am wanting to bend my body like a contortionist's, and so I started practicing the same day that I'm writing this.

• I started by touching my toes sitting and standing. Then, I would lay my body flat against my legs. I have never stretched before, so I did this for about 30 minutes until it didn't hurt anymore.
• Then I worked on doing my splits. First, I spread my legs as far as I could comfortable and layed down flat, reaching outward. I kept doing this until I could do the split. For a left and right, I got on my knee and extended my other leg forward as far as I could and so my knees didn't bend. Then I slowly reached the bottom in about 5 minutes.
• Then, I did " The Crab " by laying down, and put my hands by my head and lifted up. Slowly, I moved my hands toward my ankles so that I was shaped like and upsidedown U. I also practiced this for about 1 hour before I got it.
• Then, I layed down on my stomach and practiced taking my legs straight up in the air and over so that they were straight touching my head. This took about 1 hour also.

Practice these moves for about 1-5 months until it doesn't hurt. Make up your own ways to bend like a contortionist and enjoy your life as a bending machine!
