How do you get initiated into hells angels?

Becoming a Hells Angel isn't somthing that can just be answered through a question. Its about riding. Riding for freedom, Riding for fun, And riding for life. Its gotta be in your blood, If you can ride 20,000 Km + a year in rain or shine, Support your brothers no matter what, Stand up against the worst and spend 99% of your life on your bike then your set. But you better have the balls.

You cannot "join" the Hells Angels as if joining the YMCA.

Yes, true. Its kind of like this:

1. You probably already know an HA or a friend of a friend is in the HA. You show up at a party or some other event run by them and you behave yourself normally and don't ask stupid questions like "how do I join" or try and start fights or trying to look tough. The HA don't go around deliberately starting fights.

2. You do this kind of thing a few times as a "hang around" and the HA seem to like you.

3. You get asked by the HA to become a "prospect". This is where you have to start to commit yourself to the club. You hang out at the club house and clean up stuff and do errands. You don't refuse to do stuff. If an HA calls you and says you have to take your car and pick up another HA from the other end of the country of pick up his bike or something you do it, you don't say "well I cant because my mother is coming to tea". If the HA are attending a party somewhere you go, you don't find excuses not to. All your time is devoted to the club.

On ride-outs you hang about and keep an eye on the bikes when the members stop for a leak, ride ahead and buy the toll tickets, that kind of thing. Generally do as you are told, make yourself useful and keep your mouth shut. The other HA will not take much notice of you except to tell you to do stuff. remember you are only a Prospect at this stage you are not a member. It helps if you have a Harley and a cool one at that but its not required at this stage.

4. After at least a year of this and sometimes longer you will be asked if you want to become a member. There is no "initiation ceremony" you don't have to rape a chicken or whatever you read in the papers. You are now a full member and you are entitled to wear the HA colours, get involved in the club organisation. All HA go through this process. It shows that you are 100% commited to the club. Its like an apprenticeship. Its not easy and its definitly not for everyone, that's why they do it.

They are genuinely committed to their club and remain so as long as they are in it. They put a lot into it and don't like anyone taking the piss out of it. Pretty reasonable really.

The HA and their lifestyle are very attractive to some people. Theres a lot of support and cameraderie in it. It gives some people roots perhaps, who knows. A lot of hot air is written about them that's for sure. Personally its not for me.

Most chapters of the Hells Angels will not fully-patch a female. There have been exceptions in the past, but they are relatively few.

To want to become a Hells Angel is definitely stupid, even though it is not necessary to kill someone to gain your first, second, third, or pretty much any patch. The following is offered as a guide:

One way to become a Hells Angel is to become an undercover cop in a high profile police force drug or weapons squad - a number of these people are "Hells Angels". It is helpful if you are large, physically fit, tougher than nails, have no fear of your fellow human being, and are of above average intelligence, especially in ascertaining the insecurities of people who cannot function without a "boss". On the other hand, if you have these qualities, you might be better off in the armed forces where you will probably rise to something your grandchildren will be proud of.

The other way to become a Hells Angel is to become a "hang-around" (their term for a groupie). If this pans out, if you fetch enough beers, light enough smokes, grovel enough, you might make it to "prospect", where you will be expected to fetch beers, light smokes and grovel. You will do everything you are told. In this case it is helpful if you are a bit below average intelligence and have no particular talents.

To rise from "prospect" to "full patch" you will need to impress someone, usually a balding, pot-bellied old man who can no longer remember how he got here, who has killed no one and who has done almost nothing illegal because he has idiots like you to do that for him. He tells you stories but they are mostly not true.

When you get your cuts, the center patch will be the somewhat mundane skull (wow, really imaginative) being gobbled up by a wing that looks something like an eagles beak (kindergarten graphics, course one-oh-nothing), flanked by a "Hells Angels" banner above, and a banner showing your particular local affiliation below. Stuff to make the grandchildren proud.

To get more patches (they are endless and are invented to keep you happy and productive), you need only beat up an old woman, score a large drug deal, figure out how to reload a Glock 19, sell your 16 year old daughter to a UC, or whatever it takes.

The Hells Angels thing is a dying thing; like the Sicilian Mafia of the 20's / 30's they are nearly gone. A bunch of beer-gutted old men and a few cling-ons don't hold much clout.

Find something better to do. The marines, need people like you...the airforce, the army, the navy, we need people like you. We won't "patch" you for beating up an old woman, we will salute you, no matter what your rank, for protecting an old woman - thank God for you. Keep up our work.
