If you have a male and a female they will breed when they are old enough. Since they have live babies you must have some type of very thick grass for the babies to hide in so they won't be eatten. You also could use the net containers that hang inside the aquarium. If you do that, put the female in after she gets the large dark spot on her belly and be sure to take her out after the babies come or she will eat them. They are hard to see. Very small spots will be all there is to see at first so watch her belly and look closely.

The male and female will breed, Even if you do not want them to. Usally when you buy a female guppy from the pet store thouh, she is all ready going to have babies soon. Just be sure to put lots of plants, for the babies to hide in, If you don't have a nursery tank. When the female looks ready to blow, and you have choose to have a nursery tank set up, put her in there. When she has them all, take her out. And voila, baby fish.

Guppies will breed on their own, but guppy fry are considered a tasty treat for the rest of the fish in your aquarium. If you watch your female carefully you will be able to tell when she is about to deliver... I find that breeding traps work best because after the babies are delivered, I like to move them to their own smaller tank until they are large enough to return to the community tank. You can buy a breeding trap for as low as five dollars at a pet store ore sometimes even Wal-mart.

Here is my Ultimate Super mega How To Breed guppy answer! lol

ok first you will need the following on the list below:

- a heater

- a 5 gallon tank (size recommended)

- a few plants live or fake (long aquariam grass. can be found at Wal-Mart, pet shop)

- a thing called a net breeder. or floating container that fits in the tank.(at pet store)

- Male guppy

- 2 Female guppies (just in case)

- Small fish net

- Water thermomiter

*MAKE SURE THE WATERS TEMPERATURE IS AT 78 DEGREES(please check on other websites if this is correct.)

1)introduce the female with the male. put her in the big, clear, floating container.

2)wait a very, very long time until she looks like she is very fat. looking like there is gonna be a small explosion. :) lol BUT MAKE SURE TO FEED HER!!! and the male too

3) look under her and somewhere, not on her fins, should be a black or red spot. red for paler guppies.

4) try to be there when the female gives birth, or she will eat da babies when they are born! if you cant... then that would be bad...

5) Get the fish net and scoop her out and back in the community waters. make sure she is done giving birth.

6) crush up flake food and feed that to the fry.

7) have a fun time with the fries!

sorry for any mistakes heh heh.

Will guppys eat guppys?

Well, Adult Guppy's Can't Eat Other Adult Guppy's. If The Guppy's Breed Then They Won't Eat Any Of The Guppy Baby's. They Will All Work Together To Take Care Of The Baby's. But If They Breed And You Add Another Guppy/Fish Then It May Eat The Baby's.
