Sometimes you can give him treats or pet him continuously but there's really not a lot of things you can do to calm a dog down for grooming. The best thing you can do is to keep taking him over and over again. Eventually the dog will get used to it and won't even give a thought when he gets groomed. He may even be excited. It just takes time. That has worked on all the dogs I've trained with.
