You must remove the rear pipes from the bike. This is very easy and with only 2 allan head bolts that hold them on. On the rear brake you will see two chrome bolts remove these bolts.

Follow the brake line down to an 8mm bolt that is bolted to the frame (it is just a clamp that holds the line from moving) remove the 8mm bolt.

You now should be able to remove the brake caliper from the bracket. You will see a plastic cover on top that says: Remove for Service (or something of that nature). Remove that cover with a flat head screwdriver.

You will now need to compress the brake calipers. I did this by removing the brake fluid cap (in front of the bike again you must remove a bolt to get to this cap). I used a large flat head screwdriver to press in both calipers in.

You will now see two pins with carder pins holding them in. Pull the carder pins and pull out the two silver pins, remove old brakes. You can do this by pulling straight up on them. Replace with new brake pads and put everything back together.

Good luck and keep it in the wind...........

The above procedure is correct and per the manual. However, it's actually possible to change the pads without removing any bolts at all. The hardest part is putting the cotter pins back into the brake pins. A small mirror helps with that job. ---ts

Only the rear brakes are drum brakes. The front brakes are disc brakes. To answer your question, twist the end wing nut by your drum brake. It tightens and adjusts how much you have to press on your rear brake lever.
