1. disconnect battery
2. remove platic cover over air intake at the top of the engine. 3 screws.
3. remove flex hose from air filter to air intake. 2 hose clamps.
4. use 1/2 inch drive to loosen tension on serpentine belt. use a cheater pipe to extend the length of your ratchet handle to make it easier.
5. remove 3 bolts from alternator.
6. once the alternator is free, wiggle it around to make removing the electrical connections easier to get to.
7. remove the two plastic electrical connectors and one wire connected to the alternator. Use a small screwdriver or awl to rpy the plastic connectors loose. Takes about 1.5 hours to remove old, install the new one, and get the engine running again, if you have decent tools.

I have a 1997 ford expedition that the alternator is not charging the battery. Had the alternator tested and it was good the battery is new. Cant find the fuse for the alternator does anyone know where it is?
