if you mean the ignition coil packs yes you can test. you need to take them out of the car. then using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the primary terminals on the underside of the coil. the resistance should be 0.50-0.90 ohms. then check the resistance between the secondary terminals (were the plug wires go). it should be 5000-10,000 ohms.

The ignition module cannot be tested with an ohm meter. Todays cars are more complicated than the 80's car which can be tested with an ohm meter. It can only be test with a tech 1 scan tool, which are very expensive

It may be possible for an auto parts store to test it for you ( depending on type of vehicle). Call around and tell them the make and model of your vehicle. You will have to remove it ( disconnect your battery first ) and take it to them.

Where is the ignition and distributor located on a 1990 Chevy Celebrity?

The 1990 Chevy Celebrity engine is distributorless, the ignition is handled by a combination of the engine control module(computer) and the ignition control module. You did not mention which engine the car has. If your car has the 4 cylinder engine the ignition control module is below the intake manifold at the rear of the engine. You can follow the spark plug wires to it. The coils are mounted to the ignition control module. If your car has the V6 the ignition control module is near the starter and again you can follow the spark plug wires to it. Again the coils are mounted to the ignition control module.

Where is the ignition control module on a 1997 Sonata?

Regarding a model 1997,2 liter sonata, there is not an ignition control module as such. Ignition control comes from the ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT) through the Ignition Power Transistor (often called Igniter) and then to the Ignition coil.I do not have any information on the 1.8 or the 3.0 liter models.
