Best Answer

make the fence higher!

Even with a higher fence, any object in the chicken yard can be used as a launching point, so trimming their wings is the easiest and cheapest alternative. Trimming one wing will make them fly lopsided and they'll likely be ineffective at flight. Trimming both wings will keep them on the ground.

Yes you can, but this is not usually nesscesary since no chickens can fly, they can only flutter to break their fall, BUT if you want to further reduce their distance for fluttering to stop them from escaping over a fence, yes is is perfectly fine to clip their feathers, just be certain to not clip their actual wing flesh and bone (but you know that). First you get a Taylor Pharr and try and clip her fingers off. Then you get an Ariyah Kohel and cut her arms and legs off. Thirdly you get a Melanie Rovinsky and cut all her hair off. Finally you get an Emily Maloney and cut her mouth off so she doesn't cluck any bad or swear words. I hope this will help! (Ha Ha, He He) Please try and play along with me because these are real people in my school!!!!

This is very easy. Only clip one wing or they will adapt and learn to fly with clipped wings. Hold chicken firmly and spread out one wing. You will notice a shutter like look on the feathers of the wing. You clip exactly under the shutterlike appearance. Just to be sure, take a look at both sides of the wing. You can clearly see where before the shutterlike layers begin the actual chicken wing is. If you clip above this you will hurt your chicken. Clip one entire wing front to back below the shutterlike layers.

This is a question that only YOU can answer

You really have to think it through about whether or not you clip your companions wings and make them lose their freedom or whether you don't clip their wings and take the risk of injury!

I had two birds one is a budgie. She flew into the window once but only softly and has never done so again. My other bird was a yellow-crowned kakariki. He was only young because we hand raised him. He was the kindest most friendliest bird I had ever seen. But one day we took him to our holiday house. He was fine with the windows there. He loved flying so much but he wasn't very good at landing. He flew about three circles around our living room until he came back around towards me. He just kept flying really fast, too fast. And went straight into the window. He fell on his back on the floor. I called my mum over and picked him up. My mum scooped him out of my hands and said that he had broken his neck and that he was dead. I cried for so long. Every now and then I wonder if it was the right decision not to clip his wings.

Please give thought to this kind of thing.

Wing clipping is done to prevent the hen from flying, most chickens don't fly much anyway but here is how to do the job.

You need VERY sharp shears.

You really only need to do one wing as this unbalances the flyer.

spread the wing out and you will see 10 large flight feathers.

These can be snipped even with the rest of the feathers on the wing with no problem or pain to the bird.

See the link provided in "related links" below for diagram.

Hi. Your chickens may need more space. If they feel crowded they will peck at each other more.

There are not attachable trailers that will allow you to haul this many motorcycles. However there is a motorcycle hauler that will allow you to haul this many.
