If you are just wanting to hook them up together you can simply use a crossover cable to connect them up directly to the Ethernet ports. But if you want to allow them both to access the internet you need to get a router. There are plenty of articles in TechSpot describing them thoroughly. Have a look around.

∙ 10y agoIn order to network more than one computer, you will need the following components:
- Two or more Computers(PC, MAC, Phablet, Tablet PC, iPAD, etc..)
- One or More Network Appliance (Router, Wireless Router, Switch, Access Point, or Hub)
- ***NOTE: If you are using a Wireless Network Appliance, you may skip the need of having Ethernet cables of the computers***
- Two or more Patch or Straight-Through Ethernet cables (Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6)
Step 1: Power on your Network appliance.
Step 2: Power on your computers.
Step 3: Plug both ethernet cables to the Router or Switch.
Step 4: Then take the unplugged end of the one ethernet cables into the network card of the computer. ***Repeat this step for the other computer with the other ethernet cable.***
Step 5: You may then configure your computers for either a static IP address or a dynamically assigned IP address. Also known as a DHCP address.

∙ 12y agoThe easiest way is through a broadband ethernet cable. These look like a telephone cable, but they are a little bit wider at the head. These will plug into the back of virtually all computers. A more common way is wirelessly. One computer will be attached to a router, which in turn sends wireless signals to another computer within a certain radius. The second computer, if equipped with a wireless adapter to receive that signal, will then obtain it and then be connected.

If you want to connect computers at home so you could e.g. stream date between them it depends on the OS as well which operating systems you've got you can leave info on my profile and I'll try to improve the answer as well as I would need to know weather you have got wired or wireless connection on your computers.
