If the 3 phase circuit has a neutral (4th) wire, you can connect from one of the 3 phase wires to the neutral wire for a single phase circuit. You need to check the voltage with a DVM voltmeter or equivalent to make sure the 3 phase circuit is the correct voltage from one leg (wire) to the neutral for the equipment you wish to power. Be careful with this one as it may exceed your capabilities to do this work safely.

Another answer

You don't need to "convert" a three phase service to a single phase service, you only need to take a single phase service from one of the lines of a three phase service.

Working with a 3-phase electrical service is not a safe DIY project to be attempted by anyone who has not had the proper training and practical experience of working with high voltage electrical services. So, if you needed to ask this question, you should not be attempting to do this work by yourself!

As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed.

Before you do any work yourself,

on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances,

always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.

IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOB

SAFELY AND COMPETENTLY

REFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.

Your question should read, 'How do you convert three-phase to single-phase?'

Single-phase can be obtained by connecting a single-phase load between any two of the three line conductors, or between any line conductor and the neutral conductor -depending on the level of voltage you require.
There is no conversion necessary, any two legs of a three phase system will give you single phase. Take a 3 phase 208 volt grounded wye system. Any two of the three legs will give you 208 volts and from each one of these legs to ground you will get 120 volts. Any three phase voltage divided by 1.73 will give you phase to ground (neutral) voltage.

Generally when dealing with three phase systems, voltage will be listed as phase to phase voltage and current will be the current flowing down a single conductor (not the phase to phase current). If I'm understanding your question correctly, you do not need to do any conversion. The current flowing through the conductor is the current flowing through the conductor.

'Conversion' is unnecessary. A single-phase supply can be obtained simply by connecting the load across any two line conductors, or between a line conductor and a neutral conductor. The voltage rating of the load, of course, must match the voltage obtained from the supply.

By consumption, I presume you mean electrical load. To do so, you will need a phase converter.

The same way the electric company does it: connect your appliance between one of the three lines and the neutral wire.

Can you convert a single phase power supply into a three phase stabiliser to power a home?

Houses generally run on single phase power. It would not make sense to convert single phase to three phase to run a house. Please restate the question.

How you convert the value of single phase power to value of 3 phase power?

Electric power is measured in watts. It does not matter if it is single phase or three phase. All things being equal, for the same load, the power measured in a single phase circuit or a three phase circuit, will be the same.

Is 10 kva supply to 3 phase load is equal to 10kva supply to single phase load?

Yes of course!! 10 kva electrical power is 10 kva electrical power either it would be three phase or single phase. But other factors i.e. current, voltage changes accordingly. Actually this question is quit confusable. Because in 3phase system, if each phase gives 10kva power (single phase power = 10 kva) then 3 phase power will be 10 X 3 = 30 Kva If we go leteratualy towasrds the question, then the asnwer will be - No. becasue 10 kva supply to 3 phase load will be 3phase supply(i.e440V) & 10kva supply to single phase load will be single supply (i.e 250V).

How can you connect a 3 phase pressure cooker to a single phase supply?

The only ways this can be done is via a motor generator or a solid state inverter. These can convert single phase power to 3 phase power, however they are generally too large and expensive for home use and motor generators are extremely noisy. In a commercial or industrial location 3 phase power is usually directly available from the power company.

How do you convert a three phase power supply into single phase power supply?

You can take three separate single-phase circuits from a 3-ph generator. Just use one of the live wires plus the neutral to make a single-phase supply. <<>> A three phase generator does not have to be converted to single phase. In electrical terminology any two legs from a three phase system are classed as single phase. No matter what voltage the generator is producing, L1 - L2, L2 - L3, L3 - L1 are classed as single phase legs along with L1 - N, L2 - N, L3 - N. If the generator output voltage is not the voltage that you are looking for use any two legs of the generators output voltage and use a transformer to obtain the voltage that you need.

When would a three phase supply be preferred over a single phase supply?

Bcoz in single phase if supply is interrupt or any trouble there is no power .but in 3 phase if 1phase supply gone we can manage it by other 2 phases

You don't. A three phase motor will not start unless it is connected to a three phase supply.

How convert 1 phase to 3phase in aircraft?

The power is generated in the form of three-phase in aircraft, and this sytem has no problem in feeding single phase loads. To conserve mass in tansformers and motors the supply works at 400 Hz.

What is the difference between a single phase and a three phase inverter?

The Single and Three phase refer to Alternating Current electrical power supply outlet system and the corresponding equipment requirements. The single phase system is generally used thepower requirements are low or moderate as for household applications , while the Three phase supply system is used for High power industrial applications. Thenumbers of phases refer to Alternating Current Supply lines which are delivering the power or the sytem requirement of the equipment for operation. Thus a single phase supply cannot operate a three phase equipment or vice versa. However a ThreePhase supply can be used individually as Three different Single Phase supply systems In case of Three Phase systems the electrical supply waveforms are such that at any given instant there is a 120 degree phase difference between any two supply lines , which also results in higher magnitude of supply voltage than the corresponding single phase supply. Now refering to the inverter which is nothing but a device to convert the electrical supply from one source or magnitude ( typically DC from a Battery Bank ) to the required form and Magnitude. Thus it simply generates the equivalent electrical supply either as Singleor Three Phase , which ideally will be the same as available available from the wall outlet

Can a single phase supply be used in a three phase supply?

Yes. This is often done in distribution boards.
