Depending on the symptoms, Over-the-counter pain killers may be used to ease the pain that is associated with the disease. But a patient should try the best in order to avoid pain killers since it can stress the weaker kidney more. For high blood pressure associated with PKD, simple lifestyle changes would be greatly recommended. Changes in diet is lso suggested along with an exercise routine. Anti biotics can be used if there is infection in urine. Urinary infection should be treated in the first place as soon as it occurs in order to prevent the infection from spreading to the cyst, as it is hard to treat the cyst for an infection. If the kidney fails, then Hemodialysis is recommended or a kidney transplant may have to be done. There is currently no cure for Autosomal Dominant PKD. These treatment options are just to prolong the lifespan of the patient.
