Can you put a mini CD in a laptop Dell XPS M1530?
I have a Dell XPS M1530 Laptop and need to put a mini cd in to configure new hardware. I searched online to see if this laptop was capable of accepting this miniature CD without risk of damage or jamming. I'm happy to say that after slowly pushing the cd in until I hit the last milometer the laptop sucked the Mini CD right in, read it just fine, and spit it out on demand. Go for it! Hope this helps. Why does my dell xps m1530 gets so hot?
It depends on where you put it. If it's cooling fans are blocked all computers will get hot I advise using a flat surface such as a desk rather than that of a couch or bed because the material is much more flexible and has a higher chance of blocking air flow. If that is not the issue you may be using it for longer periods of time at higher CPU usage than it was designed for. If you are worried i would take it in to your local computer/laptop repair shop and get a second opinion also the can make a much better suggestion if they see the unit in person.

Yes. This is something called BGA reball. You couldn't replace the card if you wanted, its attached to the motherboard. You can do it with a heatgun, a BGA stencil and solder balls. This is not how its professionally done, and is somewhat difficult and can damage other parts of the motherboard. Professional/industrial BGA mounting and reball is done with infrared heat and ovens. The chip itself is not bad. Its in fact the actual connection or "solder balls" that crack and go bad along with the underfill which is supposed to glue the chip to the board, but instead warps it. You could replace the chip with something that has the same pinout such as a g96 core, that would certainly be interesting to see what happens.

It depends on the specific model. Dell contracts several different manufacturers for their laptops and each has different habits of removable or not. - AFAIK most of the XPS series have graphics cards soldered to the motherboard, but there are a few different motherboard revisions, so you can upgrade the motherboard E. G. m1530 has geforce 8400m or 8600m versions. m1730 has removable card and can be upgraded to 9800m GT or GTX SLI but only a Dell m1730 card. M1710 is actually the same as a Dell m90 or something and uses a few removable cards. the studio XPS 1640 has motherboards with ATI 3670, 4670 and 5730. -Dell Alienware m15x, m17x and m18x use MXM 3.0 B graphics just like most Clevo/Sager and MSI gaming systems. You can find and change out high end cards like AMD 6990m and Nvidia 580m in all of these. - Dell Precision m6500 and m6600 also use MXM 3.0 B cards, come with professional Quadro and Firepro cards but can be changed for others. The m4600 uses smaller type MXM 3.0 A. Anything released earlier than these laptops cannot use different graphics cards or can only use cards made for the specific model.
