How do you fix a '89 Prelude Si that is hard to start on initial try and stalls if you hit the gas hard at idle speeds?

There is a sensor on that car that tells it if it is cold or hot your car is not coming up to the cold idle speed. If you go to any auto parts store they will check the computer on the car it will tell you a code that will note which sensor.
Also check the idle screw on the intake. The tech at the auto parts store will know which one it is.

Try disconnecting the negative battery wire, leave it off for ~5 minutes, then reconnect. Start the engine. The radio should read "CODE". Using the station preset buttons (1 through 6) enter your code. Then turn the radio on. Works for my '93 Prelude; hope this helps you!
