SMART on drive means Self-Monitoring And Reporting Technology. SMART is really an essential to your hard drive. It is the monitoring system for Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and Solid State Drives (SSD). They are used to detect and report indicators of reliability in the hope of anticipating failures.
When SMART error occur, there are hints/cluesthat may help you identify that it is a SMART error:
How to fix:
Sadly, there is no way to fix SMART error on hard disk. SMART error is an imminent drive failure! You cannot fix it. Drive is about to Die.
What to Do:
1. Be Calm. Do not ever panic. When you panic, you will lose your mind and it may lead to a deeper system failure. Relax. You can still do something even you have SMART hard disk error.
2. Back-up Now! It is a must that you back-up your files immediately. If you are running an original Windows OS, then Microsoft SkyDrive can help you a bit. You can store your files online. But it's recommended to back-up your files using CD or other external sources.
3. Run Disk Check - You should have finish your back-up before doing these so in case anything bad happens then you will be ready. What if it was just a false alarm? What if it's not a SMART Error and just a lighter disk error? Try to run the Disk Check. Go to "Computer" or "My Computer" and right-click the "Drive C:" select properties. On 'Tools' tab click the "Check Now". On Windows 7, it may prompt you to schedule the Disk Check. Click "Schedule Disk Check". Restart the computer. It will not lead you automatically to your desktop. Instead, it will run a Disk Check. You have 10 seconds to postponed the Disk Check. Otherwise, wait for it to finish. After the Disk Check, check the Action center if the problem is fixed. If not, then you are in danger of SMART error.
4. Buy Everything You Need - When a SMART error happens, a user cannot do anything to fix it. So go outside and canvass for the prize for the cheapest hard disks. You may need a new clean Windows installer and essential programs that you run in your previous hard disk. Hard disks are sensitive, keep it in a smooth stable area away from any kinds of magnetism.
5. Repair Your PC - Open the side case and unscrew the bolts. Unplug it's connection and remove it from your CPU. Place your newly brough Hard Disk and screw the bolts. Plug it in to the power source, SATA, and power button. Start a new clean installation of Windows. Install the applications and programs you used on your previous drive. Then run the Rescue CD.
TIPS:
\Try restarting the computer. If that doesn't work, the disc is probally broken
There is nothing to fix, buy a bigger disk and move the files.
As you have recovered data from the failed hard-disk, it would be best to buy a new hard-disk.

try applying rubbing alcohol to the back of the disk. not too much though.
It depends on how damaged your hard disk is. There are some instances where there is nothing you can do to fix what's wrong with the hard disk. Other times you may have to insert you operating system disk to initiate a recovery.
The best way to repair a scratched disc is to take it into a specialist. There are also some mixtures that you can whipe on the disk to try and fix it. Most of the mixtures won't completely fix the scratch, just try to cover it.

BIOHD-8 is a SMART drive error code. It's issued when SMART thinks your drive is failing. Doing some reseach it seems that there have been issues with HP computers and this error code occurring but nobody seems to know why. If you believe that the hard drive is not faulty access the BIOS and look for the option HDD SMART Enable (or similar) and disable it. Do a reboot then get into the operating system and select the C: hard drive properties. On the tools page you will find a hard drive test tool run it and it will tell you it cannot run as the drive is in use. It will then ask you if you wish to reschedule a test on reboot. Select that option and reboot the machine. This will report and fix and drive protocol errors that have occurred but it will NOT repair the drive if the mechanics are faulty. Replacement is the only way to fix that.
take the disk out and make sure it is clean and not too badly scratched
Most people would probably not enjoy a song about hard disk recovery unless it was funny or some type of advertisement. Perhaps the lyrics could be "If you need a fix for your hard disk, then bring it in and don't take a risk!"
