To TEMPORARILY fix it, this is what you must do: you know the fans in the back of your console? You block them with un-done paperclips. Now after 10(or less) minutes,it'll overheat and you'll get the half red ring--that's supposed to happen. now, unplug your system, as in take then power cable out of the console. wait a couple minutes, and plug EVERYTHING back in. if it doesn't work the first time, keep trying. Eventually, you'll have a working xbox!!!
NOW HERE'S THE PERK-this is not gonna last forever. and error E73 isn't free to fix-however, if you encounter error E74 while doing this procedure, SEND IT TO MICROSOFT!!! This error code(E74) is free to fix, and it really only takes like 2 weeks to ship. I got E73 in august,then e74 in the process, and i was playing again by the end of the month.

The warranty for it is 2 years. if it has 3, or 4 flashing red rings that's 3 years for it. Or a(n) E74 error msg that too is 3 years under warrenty. Call 18004MYXBOX and ask for a repair.
How do you change the new Xbox 360 dashboard with the avatars back to the original dashboard?
You can't go back once it's been upgraded. It's quite unfortunate since new reports are suggesting the new XBox dashboard is what is causing the E74 errors and why Microsoft has extended the warranties for the E74 error. Either way, if you could go back, the upgrade is automatic so you'd never be able to go online without doing it. It's impossible. Trust me, I've tried.
