There is no chime for the headlights or key in the ignition with the door open
the chime would stay on if the keys are in the ignition (but the car turned off) and if the door is ajar to warn that the lights are still on
they are two separate fuses. so two separate chimes. look at your fuse box.
Find and remove the chime.
It might be a problem with your mutlifunction computer. Check to see if your ignition wires are still connected to the multifunction computer. I had the opposite problem where I couldn't get the chime on my 1998 Ford Explorer Sport to stop chiming or ringing or pinging. After isolating the noise, I found that the chiming was coming from a black box under the dash, behind the radio. Opening the box, looking at its circuit board AND a web search of the numbers on the box showed that it was a multifuntion computer. On my Eplorer, there is a set of wires in yellow sheath, running from the ignition along the steering column, and connecting to a brown plug. The other end of this plug has wires connecting to the multifunction computer via a wire harness. I unplugged the wires at the brown plug aka connection point. This stopped the key-in-ignition chiming. I still get the alert chime when the lights are on. I still get the initial chime when I turn the key. But I no longer get the key-in-ignition chime. Check the connection between your ignition and the multifuction computer.
that chime is telling you that the door is open if you have owner manuel, you can find in manuel how to turn off the door open chime from working
On my 1998 Exlorer Sport there is a set of 5 wires in a yellow sheath running from the ignition module to a brown connection point/harness in a very uncomfortable position directly under the steering column above the pedals. I unplugged the connection at this point. This stopped the key-in-ignition chiming (part of the anti-theft feature) but I still get the chime alerts for headlights left on, initial chime when the key is turned. The pinging, or ringing chime comes from the multifunction computer located under the dash behind the radio. Hope this help.
If the ignition chime will not turn off on a 1994 Ford tempo the switch for the sound is jammed. The steering column with have to be removed to access the switch for the ignition chime.
Do you mean the key in ignition chime?
if it's the key in ignition chime just remove the upper and lower steering column covers and unplug the connector that looks like a horseshoe
Head lights on?
The first thing you need to make sure is that your keys are still not in the ignition. You also need to check and make sure you have turned your headlights off.
