You can get a headache for many, many different reasons, including being too hot, hearing loud noises, being hungry, being thirsty, or being tired.

If you have back problems it can cause you to have a headache if something is out of place. Also if you don't have enough sleep and stay up really late for a few days it can cause you to have a headache. If you get hit in the head with an object it could cause one too.

There are hundreds of different headache disorders, and treatment depends entirely upon which headache disorder you have. What works to treat one person will not work for another. The suggestions below are helpful for some patients with tension headache, but if you suffer Migraine, cluster headache or any of the other types of headache disease or disorder you'll not likely have much luck with those techniques. For appropriate diagnosis and treatment of headache disorders, consult a board certified headache specialist.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lay down in a quiet, dark room, put a hot cloth on the back of your neck, or take a headache medicine. whichever one you want! or both if you want.

relax in a nice cool, dark room, and take some headache medicine.

Lie down and get a luke warm flannel over you forehead. Do circle movements on the bridge of you nose, by your eyes, slowly. Take some headache medicine. (Girls - don't tie you hair back tightly) When you lie down make sure you are comfy, get the pillow(s) in the right position. Drink lots of water, not fizzy drinks it makes it worse.

Sometimes it helps if you take a bath it relaxes your head. If you take headache medicine it would be a good idea that you lay down after because it usually makes you drowsy. This makes it a perfect time to simply got to sleep. Most likely your headache will vanish. Well everyone gets a headache once in a while. The causes can be many so you need to find that out first. Here are some methods which can help you to get rid of headache :

1. Take aspirin/ paracetemol

2. Have tea

3. Rest in a quiet place

4. Calm yourself down

Note: Green tea is quite effective in case of migranes and stress caused headaches. Hope this helps...

"Take two aspirin and call me in the morning."

Sorry about that , I couldn't resist.

It depends on the type of headache.

If it's external (muscle tension), relaxation (massage, hot or cold compresses, aspirin).

If it's internal ... then we have to break that down:

vascular (acute migraine) - does it have a pulse ... see your doc, there are meds including beta-blockers.

Vascular (chronic migraine) - are you sick with it? again, there are meds, but they're different.

Drug related, such as a hangover ... just wait it out. More pills will just make it worse.

# Feel the top ridge of your eye socket under the eyebrow. You will discover a small groove in your skull about the center of the top of the eye socket. In this groove is a nerve which is very sensitive to pressure. If you compress this nerve, it will be very painful. However, the pain will stimulate the pituitary to release endorphins immediately. The endorphins are the body's own natural painkillers and are more powerful than morphine. # To stimulate the nerve, push hard against it for about 10 seconds. # A similar method for releasing endorphins is to take 10 teaspoons of cayenne pepper in a glass of water. This is not harmful. When the cayenne hits the stomach lining, endorphins will be released by the brain to stop the pain. # Put a cold rag on your neck or forehead. Many headaches are caused by tense neck muscles. Conversely, use a moist hot pack to loosen up tense muscles - see which works best for you. # Massage the ears and ear lobes as well as the neck. If you can, find two tennis balls or raquet balls and put them in a sock. Lay on a flat surface and place the two balls just below the base of your skull on the occiput and relax. You may feel sinus pressure or minimal discomfort at first but it will go away. Lay in this position with the still point on the occiput for as long as needed. This is especially helpful for sinus headaches. # Similar in concept to the endorphin release - nerve stimulation through acupressure can offer some relief of symptoms. Search for "Do-in" or "acupressure" on the web. # *Reflexology - With one hand, massage the area between the thumb and forefinger on the other hand and hold. Use only as much pressure as you can tolerate and be sure to breath deeply and relax-this spot will probably be painful. Hold it until the pain level reduces significantly and repeat with more pressure. Do this on both hands and repeat as needed. # Lots of headaches are caused by dehydration - the brain has a high percentage of water, so lack of it causes it to shrink. Drink plenty of water, and in many cases your headache will go away. # Feel the top ridge of your eye socket under the eyebrow.
