How do you get better fuel economy from your 2001 Toyota Echo which gets 38 mpg now?

really there is not much to do except upkeep on the car in its best condition, but in theory people have added a water vapor system to their cars and increased by 15-30% but on the down side you are looking at about $1,000 or better to have one installed. I changed to synthetic oil, Shell Rotella T Synthetic 10W40. My mileage increased from the mid 30s to around 40-41. You can find it at Wal-Mart. I change it once a year or 6000 miles. Just use a really good oil filter. Also keep your tires inflated to the 32psi, check them at least once a month.
A few inexpensive and easy things that you can also do to improve fuel economy are:
# Change the air filter every 12000 miles (or more frequently if you live in a very dusty / smoggy environment).
# Check the air pressure in your tires, and keep them inflated as recommended by the previous author. # Keep up the preventive maintenance (change spark plugs, adjust the valve clearance, rotate tires, replace the O2 sensor (if bad)), and you'll keep up the fuel economy. # Make sure that you're using the correct viscosity of oil. The recommended weight of oil you should be using is 5W-30 SAE. Using the incorrect viscosity that is not recommended (i.e. oil that is a heavier weight) will reduce fuel economy by 2 - 3%.
# Don't drive like a bat out of hell or go hauling ten bags of concrete mix at every opportunity you get. Folks tend to forget that this is after all a subcompact car, not a Lamborghini or a dump truck.

This example should be followed by Turkey.After all, the precarious point is that the process of the European unification is in its mutual political trust and solidarity. The EU is not a temporary cooperative union, but a design for a new political entity. Without solidarity and honesty the EU has no future. This is a great difference between Europe and other continents. Considering that Japan has never recognized that during World War II the greatest crimes were committed in Korea and China, every form of cooperation remains superficial. If Turkey wants to be a part of Europe it will have to learn a lesson from the examples of Germany and Japan. We can only speak of true "Europeanization" when Ankara recognizes the historical facts unambiguously.
