Pollen comes in all shapes and sizes, from microscopic particles to visible, dust-sized particles. Normal filtration should take care of it. If you use a sand filter, the most minuscule of the pollens may pass through it. A big problem with pollen flower petals seed is that they spread all over the surface of the pool, a static skimmer should remove the however for these to do the job they must be placed perfectly in the pool and water levels have to be perfect. The best answer to this problem would be a floating skimmer , a suction-side pool cleaner that floats on the surface of the water and is attached to suction via a flexible hose in the same way as traditional pool cleaners. These cleaners have a very fast skim of water move into them that rapidly clears the whole surface of the pool by utilizing the surface tension of the water.

You can also use floculants for materials that are mixed into the water. if you do not use a flocculant. You can Google that word to find brands of flocculants to use. Get a good skimmer The skimmers that are fixed in the pool rarely are able to do the job because they don't have a very strong drag on the surface of the water and are very Dependant on the water level being just right. However if you get a floating suction side skimmer it should fix the problem. like the one on www.dragonfly.biz

The static skimmer is supposed to do this, however their performance is usually severely limited at best. The best way is to use a suction side floating skimmer these are able to attract floating material from very far afield and by organizing the direction of currents in the pool should solve the problem. I know of only one manufacturer of these and shall put a link below.

Pollen only floats on the surface of the pool and is brushed off the tiles easily. You must be talking about yellow algae. Brush the entire pool several times 1st day add plenty of chlorine (liquid @ 12.5% strength), run filter 24/7. Then brush pool 2 to 3 times next few days and maintain 3.0 to 10.0 ppm chlorine until all signs of algae is gone. Then clean your filter.

It really depends on how you want to. The fastest way is to shock the pool then scoop out the bugs. Another way is to buy a filter that they make for pools with bug problems.

What do you do if your pool has green algae and black algae spots?

If it is genuine 'black algae' it is very difficult to remove without emptying the pool and gouging the black algae out of the pool surface. Other algae can be removed by shocking the pool, filtering continuously and brushing walls while maintaining a good sanitizer level.

Why does my new one week old new in ground gunite salt water system pool have black spots in many areas of the plaster on the bottom and sides?

Are they actually black (possibly black algae)? How large? Are they expanding? Are they rust spots? Frequently metal shavings from the mixer used on the plaster. Also other possibilities such as metals from the water supply source. A local professional, hopefully from the company that built your pool, should be able to analyze this. Tough to diagnose without visual input.
