3. Go on the Somerville exit.
4. Keep going that way.
5. You'll be going through Staten Island NY. So stay on that highway because you'll get to the Verrazano Bridge which takes you from Staten Island to Brooklyn.
6. Once you get pass Brooklyn, you'll be going pass NYC (New York City)
STAY ON THAT HIGHWAY!
7. Then after NYC, comes Queens. Keep passing Queens because Long Island is in part of Queens.
8. Then once you go through Queens you'll see a Long Island highway and you'll be on your way.
9. Just get off an exit like that and you'll be in Long Island. Hopefully.

Take the Long Island Railroad from any of its many stations on Long Island.
By car:
Get on your nearest west-east highway and drive directly west where you will hit Brooklyn/Queens. From there, follow signs to the Triborough Bridge/Brooklyn Bridge/Manhattan Bridge/Queensborough Bridge/Battery Park Tunnel.
