It helps to be a resident of California. Do well in high school (mostly A's in higher level courses) and have a few extracurriculars that you demonstrate leadership and dedication in. Doesn't hurt to emphasize any cultural diversity you may have as well. But, it is very difficult to get into - you could do everything right and still not get in, make sure you have a safety school!
