Personal Liability with a Renters Policy You could get a commercial type policy -- the last one I sold in Texas was about $1200/year for $300,000 liability. They charge per acre. Insuracne is regulated by state governments. All insurance questions should be required to state what state you are in. Don't just love the English language? Why don't you have homewners insurance??? You have to live somewhere. You can buy a renters policy that has personal liability as part of the package and ask the agent if it will extend to vacant land.

Speaking just from my personal experience in New York, when I purchased a home that had gone into foreclosure to renovate, I could not get a full homeowner's policy on it. No…t only did the insurance companies want the home to be perfect before they would insure it, but even after the necessary repairs were done, because I was not living there, they would only give me what is called a "fire policy". It basically covers against fire, wind, an airplane crashing through the roof, etc. It does not cover vandalism however. If you want to protect the contents of the home (tools, etc.) then you need a rider for that which increases the premium. Although this "fire policy" has much less coverage than a real homeowner's policy, it has a much more expensive premium - I'm still trying to figure that one out (it was almost $500/year for a $45,000 policy with $2,000 personal property coverage). Its a pretty annoying situation. Anyway, maybe I have yet to find the right insurance company (I am still looking), but this has been my personal experience. I hope it helps!

It honestly depends why you want to have insurance on the vacant lot. Is it because you want to start a business on the land or make a garden or have parties or even mak…e the place a party home for when anyone is having a party and they want it to be outdoors you could rent the person vacant lot. Then yes I would because if someone was to vandalize or destroy your property would have no way to recover the place,or find the person and make the person pay back. Plus it would be easier to have insurance to save time, and money!

I have never heard of this and don't believe that it exists. I believe that if you are interested in liability only then a premises liability policy is what you want. A "homeo…wners" policy is a packaged policy with property, liability, medical payments to others, and many other coverages put together for owner occupied homes only.
