Actually, to figure out if your fire retardant MDF is up to standard
is not that hard. I would love to help you settle this problem.
There are four simple ways to identify the MDF.
Firstly, touch the board and see if the surface is smooth or not;
Secondly, to cut a small piece(diameter 2-3mm) with a blade and
then light it laterally. The class C should be no problem if the
piece extinguish by itself without smoldering in five seconds.
Within 2 seconds, the piece extinguishes without smoldering after
being lit vertically, then it is up to Grade B standard.
Thirdly, you may pinch the core board with your nails to see it is
hard or soft. And then to observe if the surface layer is easily
peeled off by pinching up against the position near to the panel
with your fingernails.
Fourthly, put a small piece of the template into the cold water
soak for 24 hours, observing the thickness change. After that,
dry it naturally and observe the deformation situation of the plate
surface. This is the most critical step to get the answer.
