With patience... It really depends on the position of the plug. On a 93 Ford Explorer the only ones you can gain access to without a lot of removal are the 2 closer to the rear of the engine on either side. You will need to remove the plastic wheel well liner to see them. The ones in the front are blocked by engine mounts. If you really want to do it right you should pull the engine and replace them all at the same time to prevent future headaches. If the majority of the problem plug is still in and you only have a leak with limited time, money, or mechanical experience I would recommend going to an auto repair store and getting some "QuikSteel" It's an epoxy putty that turns as hard as steel in 15mins. Amazing stuff, I also recommend NASA use it next time they have a leak.

If you try to replace with an OEM plug you will need a large socket (about 1") with extension and a nice accurate swing from a hefty hammer. I would tape the plug in place unless you have a third arm to hold it exactly dead center. This is a tricky thing to pull off.

Another simple solution would be a rubber plug. They come in a number of different sizes. You will want the 1" rubber plug. Once the bad plug is removed clean the area and dry. Tap the rubber plug in as far as it will go then tighten the bolt in the center of plug until the rubber plug expands creating a nice snug fit.

Good Luck!
