IF HE'S SHY, when he's with his friends, he will turn around to see what are you doing, smile at you when you look at him. He might ask stupid stuff, try to get closer to you, talk to your friends. If he's afraid to talk to you and look at you in the eyes when you ask him a question, he may just be a shy guy. If he's not shy, he will let you know.

He'll look at you, until you turn around, then boom, he's looking the other way.

You may 'feel' like he's watching you - but he's hard to catch at it

He may do something physical - like grab you in a play way, poke you, play with your hair...

This happened to me once, it was about a year ago, this boy was with his friends (I liked him, but oh well), and one of his friends says 'Hey (my name), (his name) thinks you're the best!" and (his name) blushes, shoves his friend, and whispered 'shut up' while I walk away with (my best friend's name), blushing and trying not to skip.
