The surest way would be to have an AIDS test performed. If you suspect you might be a candidate for AIDS (because of a past history of unprotected sexual activity or needle-based drug use), contact your doctor about scheduling such a test.

If you are infected, not knowing won't make the disease go away; in fact, it would make the situation worse, as you'd be unknowingly spreading the HIV virus further.

Please observe HIV+ is different from having AIDS. If somebody are having AIDS one usually will see it through the symptoms he has. If he s/he is HIV+ there is nothing to observe and HIV antibody tests or an HIvirus test is necessary.

The only way to know is to go for testing. In most parts of the US confidential and/or anonymous testing is available. There must be an AIDS hot line or other resource (social services) you can call for testing information.

Some symptoms of aids are: sudden weight loss, fatige, swollen glands, shortness of breath, unexplained diarrhea, fever, and open sores that won't heal.

But remember, the only way you can get HIV/AIDS is if you are having sexual intercorse with someone who has HIV/AIDS, if you are getting someones blood with hiv/aids inside of you, or if your mother passed it down to you when you were born.

If you think that you might have any type of STD or AIDS, you should immediatly see a doctor so they can check you out

You can have a blood test or an oral swab test. The test is for your body producing antibodies as it tries to fight the HIV virus. This test is only completely accurate if it is done 6 months after your last possible exposure to HIV as it can take up to that long for your body to produce antibodies to the virus.

HIV otherwise can have no visible symptoms whatsoever for years.

It is important to note that an exposure to HIV would include an infected person's blood, semen or vaginal fluids gaining access to your blood system through a cut in your skin mostly through sexual contact or sharing needles with an infected person. You cannot get HIV from kissing, hugging, drinking out of the same glass, for more information visit: http://www.thebody.com/

It is hard to say whether any person carries HIV or AIDS by looking them. AIDS virus need to be identified from a person's blood by lab techniques. Only the medical report can confirm the presence or absence of an infection.
