∙ 14y agoUnfortunately, there is no sure way to know for sure you have the virus without getting tested. A few weeks after exposure, some people develop flu like symptoms and others dont. After a 3-6 month incubation period for the virus, your body begins making antibodies for the virus. Only after 3 months can you test positive for the virus.
The only way one can know is to be tested . Do not let anyone tell you otherwise !

You cannot rely on symptoms to know whether you are infected with HIV. About half the people who are infected have flu-like symptoms within two to four weeks of having been exposed to HIV. However, just as many people infected by HIV do not have any symptoms at all for many years.
Over time, as the immune system weakens, maybe over months or years, symptoms begin to develop.
