Dogs can "turn off and on" the labor. If it's too noisy, or there are too many people, and she doesn't feel safe, she will delay her labor as long as possible. Depending on your breed, there is a certain temperature that mother dogs reach just before they have puppies. Research into your specific breed, and then regularly check her temperature, and keep a chart.
You should be taking your dogs temperature twice a day from about day 58 on. When your dog's temperature dips drastically, the puppies will be born within 24 hours. A drastic dip is when the dogs temp dips from its normal 101F to about 98F.
Try to remember when she got bred and it would be approximately 58-63 days from then. The symptoms are restless, getting up and down, digging holes or trying to, then on to panting and panting. Have your Veterinarian ready in case you have to do a c-section. Once she starts into labor, she should pop out pups about every 2 hours or so. Don't let her go too long without producing a pup. If you see her straining and straining and nothing is happening then take her immediately into see your Veterinarian. Another way to tell impending labor is to take her temperature. Normal temp for a dog is 101 - 102. About 12 hours before labor, the temperature will drop. So if you see a drop in her temperature, then you will know it will be soon. By the way KNOW is spelled KNOW, not no.
The best way to know is to get xrays before the pups are born. Then you know how many to expect and you will know when she is done.

ONLY a Veterinarian should give oxytocin to your dog in labor. If you are doing it yourself, you could literally blow out the uterus so do NOT do it yourself, only with your Veterinarian. It is not for labor pain but to induce contractions of the uterus.
