Here are some different techniques that I have used and other people have used that worked effectively.
1. I had gained 40 lbs. from being pregnant. So, what I did was went to a walking trail and sped walked 8 miles a day 6 days a week. I ate less, drank A LOT of water rather than cool aid and soda. I stopped drinking caffeine and slept better. I went from 156 to 135 in 4.5 weeks. I ate small meals and ate breakfast everyday.
2. My friend was 260 lb. He now weighs 216 lbs. (to make weight for basic training). He lost the weight in a period of four months. He jogged for an hour to 1 1/2 almost everyday, did push-ups, and a lot of physical labor. He ate lean cuisines and lean gourmet 3-4 times a day and drank plenty of water. He wasn't much of a fruit person, so he ate chewy bars instead of sweets whenever he had a snack.
3. My classmate was 140 lbs. and lost 20lbs. in a period of 2 months. She religiously did Tae Bo almost everyday 2 hours a day, back-off of carbs, and ate more fruit.
The thing is to be consistent and self-motivated. Try looking into exercise regimens that fits you, make it a habit, and go with it. I was told that 75% of what we eat affects the outcome of our body.
Hope this helps and Best wishes
