Japanese White Sauce is actually very easy to make.
Sometimes recipes will vary, some people add peanut butter to theirs.
This recipe however, does not! It's very good.
1-1/4 cup
Hellman's mayonnaise *
1/4 cup
water
1 teaspoon
tomato paste
1 tablespoon
melted butter
1/2 teaspoon
garlic powder
1 teaspoon
sugar
1/4 teaspoon
paprika
dash
cayenne pepper
and yes, get Hellman's, it works the best and doesn't have as much as a mayonnaise taste; you DON'T want that.
Using a fork or a whisk, blend all ingredients together thoroughly until well mixed and the sauce is smooth. Refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to blend. Bring to room temperature before serving.
The sauce will NOT taste right if you don't let it sit overnight. And please don't try to substitute ketchup for the tomato paste! The water is needed to bring this to the right consistency.

Try using honey or molasses in place of brown sugar, try some apple cider vinegar instead of mustard for tang and you can totally omit the worchesrshire sauce
You have to make up more of the sauce without mustard and then add it to the first one.
No one really knows. But I know how to make really good dipping sauce. You mix 2 dashes of soy sauce, 1 dash of mustard. And last, 1 dash of teryiaki sauce. When you add the mustard, don't add too much or it will taste really sour and tangy! :( gross!
You can mix honey and mustard for a honey mustard. You can mix mustard and mayo to eat with fish or seafood. You can mix bbq sauce(A1 works the best) and mustard for poultry. Its all about what you already have, try out different things. See what you like best.
It's very simply.. tartar sauce, with mustard and ketchup. I love the sauce and when I decide to indulge and have a Big Mac. I always order it with extra sauce. My theory is this: why was this sauce created? To save time.. This is a "fast food" restaurant and making things faster is good for business. In order to save time assembling a burger, why not combine the ingredients into a "special sauce" therefore eliminating the ketchup, mustard, mayo and relish applied separately instead mix it all together and make one simple squirt of the sauce. I think that it was further simplified by using tartar sauce instead of mayo and relish. If you read the ingredients of the Mac sauce, and then read Tartar sauce, mustard and ketchup, there is only one difference between the Mac sauce and the other three, and that is the tomato. There is no tomato in Mac sauce, but I assume that this was taken out of the sauce at some point and substituted with coloring. But give it a shot.. try it at home.. I think you'll agree with the right combination of the three it will taste pretty close and its also very easy to make. Trust him, trust him, he's really right!
