start with a wire frame. The grade of the wire will be determined by the size and therefore the weight the wire will be supporting. for very large projects, you might want to try wood, though I have never done this. Cover the shaped form with window screening, again, shaped to whatever you want. Mix cement and smooth over and inside your shaped form pushing the cement through the small holes in screening as much as possible to make a solid form of desired thickness. Allow to dry. Sand down any rough edges if desired. If you like, paint or seal in some way, though the material is very hardy against weather. There is also the option of carving your own mold out of any material, spraying on a loosening agent and filling mold with plaster of paris. Plaster won't stand up to weather as well, but you can get alot more detail in someting like this, and the product can be sealed and painted also to hold up more to wetness outside. First, you want to make the mold you need to get an acrylic which is a piece of glass, wood, or something to put the mold on, a glue stick or a bottle of glue, a design that you want to make into a statue, something that fits around the mold like a cup or a box, scissors. Next thing you do is you get the acrylic and the design and you glue the design on to the mold. Then you take the cup or box and cut it so that it is about an inch above the design. Have it sit out for a minute or two then you take the cup or box off the mold. After you do that, you want to make the plaster, you do this by getting hydrated lime, sand, and water. Then you mix and you have it sit out for two to three days. After it has sit out for two to three days, you have to get these items the mold, the plaster, water, scraper. Mix the plaster and the water together, put it in the mold, and then scrape the top of the mold to even it off. Let it sit for one day. After you have the mold out for one-day make, sure it is hardened if not keep the mold out until it is. then take the plaster out of the mold and you have got yourself a statue. If you want to paint your statue, you need these items Acrylic paint, and Spray Enamel to dry it. Then you are ready to show your hand made statue to the world. I'd love to know what you come up with! m.j. or you can
